Herself

Raised in Champaign, IL in a family of musicians, Lynn grew up singing harmony.
At age 5, she taught herself to play piano by ear.  At age 8, she found a flute in her aunt's closet and taught herself to play and by age 9, she began writing music.

Over the years, she performed in community theater productions, nursing homes, coffeehouses, bars, and other venues in the Champaign-Urbana, IL area. She sang with various jazz groups & playing piano/singing for her high school jazz ensemble, with her family.  She began performing solo professionally at age 17.

She pursued her passions for music, psychology and healing by entering the Music Therapy program at Illinois State University. (Read more if you're thinking "What the heck is music therapy?").

Here, Lynn received her first formal training in music. With the help of Seth Fein and a network of local musicians in Champaign-Urbana, Lynn performed regularly in the C-U area (live shows & radio performances), while beginning school as a full-time student. She was voted "Best New Artist" in the 2006 Local Music Awards, hosted by WPGU, a popular Champaign-Urbana, IL radio station and performed a number of times in the Pygmalion Music Festival.

At 19, she recorded and released her first full-length album, Umbrella and continued regular performances in Illinois for 3 years as a solo, acoustic act and with various jazz/folk groups from the area.  She began exploring and writing music on the guitar & soprano/baritone ukulele.

In the fall of 2008, Lynn studied abroad in Florence, Italy for a semester where she took classes, performed regularly at Bebop Night Club, became active in Laughter Yoga, and traveled around Europe.  Upon her return to the states, she continued Music Therapy studies, and gigged regularly with upright bassist Karl Kieser, and occasionally with the vocal and instrumental support of her family on stage. :)

Now 23, she has completed her Music Therapy coursework and has just written & released her second full-length album, "YES!".  Most recently, she has moved to Minneapolis, MN and has fallen in love with the area.  She will be working here as a Music Therapy intern for 6 months at a hospital, Eating Disorders Institute, with a local Parkinson's center and with a Hospice program.  Life is good.

She will keep you posted of her present music/travel endeavors.

Glad to meet you.
